Appointment of Maintenance Manager: Welcome to the team Mondo

The Whale Trail has reached an exciting new chapter. With more than 100km of trail now complete and open, we are steadily transitioning from a construction project into a fully operating, world‑class trail experience. We are delighted to mark a significant milestone in that journey by the appointment of our full‑time Trail Maintenance Manager, Mondo Kopua.

Many in Marlborough and across the cycling community will already know Mondo. For those who don’t, he brings a wealth of practical experience and deep local knowledge. His background spans vineyard management, landscaping and more recently specialist weed‑control contracting on farms - skills that translate directly into looking after our trail.

Mondo is also a keen avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast, well known for setting up and running cyclocross, orienteering and rogaine events in Marlborough. His passion for the outdoors, combined with his hands‑on experience managing land, people, and complex environments, makes him an exceptional fit for this new role.
