Factory Road to the Picton Elevation
This is a short "Out and Back" section with delightful totara stands and a special sweeping trail to the elevation. Take the family and have a wonderful hour or two.
Picton Elevation to Tuamarino
Enjoy the sweeping trail through the Para Wetlands.
PARK: Park at Factory Road or Tuamarino. Please do not park at the elevation, crossing the traffic is heinous and it is a private driveway.
PLEASE NOTE:
The remainder of the Waitohi (Picton to the Elevation) section is in design and closed for your safety as we work through a suitable solution. Closed sections are clearly marked with signage.
Warning - Game Bird Hunting at Para Wetlands
Trail temporarily closed.
The trail between Bush Road and Para Road will be closed for the opening weekends of the game bird hunting season.
Trail Closed:
Saturday 2nd May: 5am - 10am & 4pm - 7pm
Sunday 3rd May: 5am - 10am & 4pm - 7pm
Saturday 9th May: 5am - 10am & 4pm - 7pm
Sunday 10th May: 5am - 10am & 4pm - 7pm
Please note that game bird hunting takes place in the Fish & Game owned/managed Para Wetland adjacent to the trail during the game bird season from May - July each year. Accordingly, you may hear shotgun noises in the area during this period.
